Antarctic Air Day 2018 (access to the rear of the plane)

Outside the International Antarctic Centre

It’s your chance to explore all things to do with Antarctica when you join us at the Antarctica Air Day on Saturday 29 September

You will be able to explore inside the United States Air Force C-17 Globemaster before it begins ferrying scientists and freight to McMurdo Station and Scott Base in Antarctica.

It’s also your chance to meet the crews, see displays and explore life in Antarctica – the coldest and windiest continent in the world.

A great fun day out for the whole family.

To manage demand there will be timed entry for the C17 aeroplane and tickets are essential but you are free to wander through all the other displays at your leisure.

To visit the rear of the C-17 you will need to apply for a free ticket.

Please note that you will have 30 minutes to explore the rear of the C17 as part of the Antarctica Air Day. There will be many people who want to explore the aircraft so to be fair to all we ask that you adhere to yourchosen time period.

On arrival please proceed to the registration tent. Here you will be given a wristband for your viewing time. You will then be free to discover the rest of the show at your leisure. Please proceed to the C17 at your scheduled time.

There is a briefing video that will be playing in the registration tent. It’s a good idea to watch this video before you explore the C17 as it may help answer some of your questions when onboard. But if you don’t, that’s fine too. It will be repeated throughout the day, so if you don’t have time prior you will be able to watch it later.

*** Please note all adults and children attending must have a ticket

*** Tickets to view the cockpit are to be booked seperately here
